FADERGS Receives Maximum Score in MEC Reaccreditation

During a recent on-site visit by the Institutional Reaccreditation Commission at the Ministry of Education (MEC), Faculdade de Desenvolvimento do Rio Grande do Sul (FADERGS) received the maximum reaccreditation score of five, which is Brazil’s highest rating for a higher education institution. The rating evaluated institutional planning, assessment, development, academic and management policy and physical infrastructure.

Among the findings, MEC reports that FADERGS continues its evolution that began when it joined Laureate International Universities, which has given its students and teachers expanded international opportunities, for example. As for the infrastructure, its laboratories and classrooms were rated excellent for academic practices.

Furthermore, the commission highlighted the high-level faculty that contribute to the employability of students, and it praised the FADERGS assessment process that informs decisions and continuous growth and improvement efforts.

“The university’s growth process is due to the attention paid to academic quality, employability and entrepreneurship, always thinking about the students,” said the academic director at FADERGS, Filipe Barroso. “This assessment is important for us to achieve other major steps in the near future.”

In the same week, FADERGS was visited by MEC’s commission for distance education accreditation (EaD), a step it has taken in order to offer accredited distance learning courses in the next year. The university was recognized as excellent, also scoring five.
