Encouraging Inclusivity through Communications

Karol Valdivia is helping address many of the inequalities faced by the deaf community in Honduras.
In addition to her study in graphic design at CEUTEC, and her work in Laureate’s Communications and Public Affairs team, Karol dedicates much of her time to supporting and empowering young people with hearing loss.
She works as a sign language instructor (for hearing students), is developing online resources and opportunities for young people who are deaf, and is creating new signs for the Honduran Sign Language, LESHO.
Karol is a passionate advocate who firmly believes communication is everyone’s responsibility, and every person should have access to information.
Here, Karol shares some insights with her Laureate Communications colleague, Natalia Venegas.
We are so proud of our Laureate Hero.
