A Network Comes Together to Celebrate its Global Impact

Every October, thousands of Laureate students, faculty, and staff across the world come together to reiterate their commitment of service to their local communities and celebrate our global impact and mission. This year, service projects took place in nearly every Laureate institution and office across the network.

Creating meaningful impact in the communities we serve is core to our mission, and Global Days of Service is a wonderful opportunity for Laureate institutions and offices to showcase the social impact efforts that take place throughout the year on their campuses.

In this edition, we highlight a few of these amazing initiatives::

Instituto Profesional AIEP Campus Concepción: More than 40 AIEP students and faculty visited the Hogar de Cristo shelter, which serves as a home for over 200 senior citizens and homeless people in the Chilean city of Concepción. AIEP volunteers shared a hot meal, donated clothes, and spent quality time with the shelter’s residents.

Universidad del Valle de México Campus Queretaro: 270 UVM volunteers prepared over 2,000 traditional tortas and distributed them among the family members of the patients in the three largest public hospitals in Queretaro.

UniNorte Brazil: 80 Health Sciences students and faculty visited a refugee shelter in the Amazon city of Manaus and provided more than 200 physical, dental, and medical services to over 85 Venezuelan refugees, supporting their integration and inclusion to Brazilian society.

UniRitter Campus Zona Sul, Brazil: 39 students and faculty started a pen pal program with over 100 female inmates of a prison in the city of Porto Alegre. Volunteers and inmates exchanged an optimistic and empathic vision of their life inside and outside prison.

Laureate Corporate Office, Baltimore: More than 250 corporate employees and their families came together to benefit Beechfield Elementary Middle School, a local Baltimore school that serves over 650 students. The team led a large-scale beautification effort that included painting murals, transforming common spaces, and reviving an auditorium that had been closed for the past ten years.
