Universidad Interamericana de Panamá (UIP) recently signed a cooperation and collaboration agreement with the tech company, Smartbytes, and the international nonprofit, Glasswing International. The agreements allow for UIP students to apply for internships, professional practice opportunities, and volunteer experiences.
Glasswing International is an innovative non-profit organization that seeks to address the roots of poverty and violence through education, health, and community development. Glasswing is based in New York and its areas of influence include: El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Panama. The international nature of Glasswing enables UIP students to join volunteers from all over the world in their work in Panama and other regions.
Smartbytes is a well-established Information Technology (IT) and computer services provider with over 15 years of experience as a leader in the tech business in Central America. Besides allowing UIP students to do internships and professional practices at the company, the agreement includes a cooperation between the institutions to develop IT training programs that respond to market needs and furthers student’s academic and professional development.
These and other initiatives to collaborate with global and regional companies are part of Laureate’s global efforts to provide our students with opportunities to develop the real-world skills and competencies that top employers expect and demand.
