The Premio Laureate Brasil is a collaboration between four Laureate network institutions in Brazil and seeks to support and expand the social entrepreneurial ecosystem all across the country through campus-based programs organized under a national prize. The award was launched in 2008 at the Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (UAM), and in 2012, the Universidade Potiguar (UnP) launched a partner program. Centro Universitário do Norte (UniNorte) and Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS) then launched local programs as well, growing the reach of the prize to many diverse regions of Brazil.
Supported by Laureate International Universities, the International Youth Foundation and the four participating institutions, the prize each year selects young social entrepreneurs to receive the following:
- Public recognition at an award ceremony and through IYF publications and promotions
- Cash awards to support their work
- Training sessions in topics relevant to their work, such as public relations, leadership, fundraising and teamwork
- Access to a global network of YouthActionNet® alumni
