Universidad Latina (founded in 1979) and Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica (founded in 1986) joined in 2010 to become Universidad Latina de Costa Rica (ULatina), an institution that combines the strengths and specialties of its predecessors. ULatina delivers degree programs to more than 35,400 students on two campuses and eight regional sites in six provinces.

Universidad Latina de Costa Rica (ULatina) offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in architecture, business administration, culinary arts, dentistry, engineering, education, health sciences, humanities, hospitality management, information technology, journalism, law and legal studies, medicine, nursing and public relations.
ULatina offers a variety of dual-degree programs with Laureate International Universities partner institutions such as the Glion Institute of Higher Education and the Institute for Executive Development.
ULatina is accredited by the National Council of Higher Education, National Accreditation System for Higher Education (SINAES) and Red Iberoamericana para la Acreditación de la Calidad de la Educación Superior (RIACES). ULatina also is a Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center for project management education programs.
Universidad Latina de Costa Rica (ULatina) serves its communities with dental and psychology clinics, legal advisory services and programs to promote reading in primary schools. Students participate in a variety of volunteer projects and programs throughout the year.
In 2010, ULatina developed the Dr. Óscar Arias Sánchez Chair for Peace Education (named in honor of former Costa Rican president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Óscar Arias Sánchez) to strengthen a culture of peace in throughout Costa Rica. ULatina also has been recognized as a socially responsible institution for two years in a row.
ULatina participates in the YouthActionNet® Central America Premio Yo Creo/I Believe program, in collaboration with the International Youth Foundation, the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation and UNITEC Honduras.
Universidad Latina de Costa Rica is the largest private university in Costa Rica, according to Estado de la Educación en Costa Rica (State of Education in Costa Rica), and has the country’s top graduate business administration program.
