Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) was founded in 1988 and remains a pioneer in broadening access to higher education throughout Chile. With more than 27,000 students, it is the second largest university in Chile. It operates four campuses in Santiago, one in Concepción, and one in Viña del Mar.

The university is a leader in working-adult courses, extensive study-and-work programs, and innovative Web-based math teaching labs, and a pioneer in extending a health sciences wellness approach to primary and secondary medical education.
Universidad de Las Américas is accredited by the Chilean Superior Council for Education.
UDLA's social responsibility efforts are centered in its Corporate Social Responsibility Department and through its legal, psychology, and veterinary clinics. The university offers free courses for the local community on energy conservation techniques.
