The BTK group consists of BTK University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Hamburg and Iserlohn, HTK Academy of Design in Hamburg and BTK Academy of Design in Berlin and enrolls nearly 1,000 students.
- HTK Academy of Design (Hamburger Technische Kunstschule) was founded in 1987 in Hamburg.
- BTK Academy of Design (Berliner Technische Kunstschule) opened its doors in Berlin in 2000.
- BTK and HTK are recognized by the German government as technical schools for the education of graphic designers.
- BTK University of Applied Sciences has been a state-recognized institution since its founding in 2006. In 2009, it became one of the first private institutions in Berlin to be accredited by the Science Council.

BTK University of Applied Sciences offers six state-accredited bachelor of arts degree programs:
- Motion design
- Interaction design
- Communication design
- Game design
All study programs at the Academies of Design consist of three semesters of basic studies in graphic design, followed by three semesters of study in one of the specializations offered — editorial, advertising, multimedia or illustration.
