Laureate International Universities Brings the Renowned World Business Forum to Tens of Thousands of Students

Baltimore, Maryland—October 3, 2013— Laureate International Universities broadcast the World Business Forum New York 2013 on October 1 and 2 to more than 55,000 students at 33 Laureate network institutions around the world.

The World Business Forum convenes business experts and world leaders to share their insights and knowledge. Thirty students, both undergraduate and graduate, and 12 faculty members from Laureate network institutions attended the event at Radio City Music Hall. Students and professors were selected based on their track records of leadership and distinguished academic performance. Between sessions of the World Business Forum, select student anchors provided commentary on the sessions, interviewed attendees at the event, and encouraged discussion among those watching at their home universities.

"The World Business Forum offers Laureate students unique access to the world’s most influential business executives and thought leaders," said Douglas L. Becker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Laureate Education, Inc. "Laureate and each of our member institutions strive to offer our students the kinds of insights and knowledge that will give them an edge in the global labor market after graduation."

This year’s speakers included Jack Welch, former chairman and CEO of GE; Ben Zander, famed orchestra conductor; Sam Palmisano, former president and CEO of IBM; and Gordon Brown, former prime minister of the United Kingdom.

This was the third year in a row that Laureate International Universities broadcast the World Business Forum. The webcast was transmitted in English with Spanish subtitles. The live broadcast was made possible through a partnership with HSM, which created the World Innovation Forum and organizes many other international events.
