In 2012, the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica (ULatina) and Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC Honduras) launched regional YouthActionNet® programs under the names Premio Yo Creo/Yo Emprendo at their respective institutions with the vision of impacting and supporting the social entrepreneurial ecosystem in Central America. The programs are collaborative efforts of Laureate International Universities, Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, UNITEC Honduras and the International Youth Foundation.

The programs select 10 Central American social entrepreneurs each year to receive:

  • Recognition in a public awards ceremony
  • Cash awards to support their work
  • A Spanish-language training experience on topics relevant to social change, including leadership, fundraising and entrepreneurship
  • Access to the global network of YouthActionNet® alumni
